The Beach, 2025, single-channel video, 12 minutes 17 seconds

‘The Beach’ blends 3D animations with home video footage of my family by the sea from 1996, entering the scene through the parallel viewpoints of then and now. Reconstructing the water, the sand and the heat, the beach becomes a place of exchange between present anxieties and remembered delight. Weather tears at the seams of the beach and at the video itself; and as the work morphs under elemental forces, sensations of nostalgia and loss expand the day but also release it into the pace of time.
